Inpatient Care

When your medical care requires a hospital stay, rest assured WCHC provides patients and visitors with compassionate care and comfort for you and conveniences for your visitors.

The Medical/Surgical floor for inpatient care has 22 beds and several amenities. All patient rooms are private with a large bathroom with a walk-in shower. Each room has a family area and daybeds, so family members may stay and feel comfortable with their loved ones.

Our team of hospitalists provides care for patients throughout a hospital stay. A hospitalist is a provider who provides general medical care to patients. Hospitalists are available on-site 24/7 and can be at a patient’s bedside within minutes, providing care right when needed.

Acting as the center point of contact, the hospitalist can spend more time talking with and educating the patient and family while coordinating care with the patient’s primary care provider and specialists.

Your hospitalist will stay at the forefront of symptoms, adjust treatment, and coordinate diagnostic assessments as needed during your hospital stay. Registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and certified nursing assistants all provide 24–hour nursing care for medical and surgical patients of all ages.

An interdisciplinary team will prepare you for discharge and provide discharge instructions, patient education, and additional information that is important to your quick recovery and future health.

Our hospitalists will follow up with the patient’s primary care physician to review course treatment, medication, and next steps to ensure an excellent transition of care. If you don’t have a primary care doctor, we’ll arrange follow-up care with appropriate healthcare providers.

If you need additional recovery time before going home, WCHC’s skilled nursing care may be an available option. For skilled care to initiate, you must have been hospitalized for three nights under an acute level of care. Reasons you may qualify for skilled care may include, but are not limited to a need for:

• Physical therapy
• Occupational therapy
• Speech therapy
• IV Antibiotics/infusions more than once a day
