In a medical emergency, having access to prompt, expert care is crucial. When minutes matter, you can count on WCHC’s Emergency Department.
- Open 24/7, with shorter wait times than those of a large medical center.
- Level IV Trauma Care Center designated by the State of Iowa.
- Each Emergency Room care provider is certified and comes to WCHC with experience in emergency medicine, including advanced cardiac life support, advanced trauma life support, and basic life support.
- Nursing staff with special training in trauma nurse core curriculum.
- A facility equipped to stabilize a patient’s immediate needs and has access to specialized services and air care to a tertiary hospital when needed.
- Digital imaging services and laboratory services to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating patients in an emergency situation.
- Transfer to a larger facility available via AirCare emergency helicopter service.
