Health Insurance
We participate with most major insurance carriers. Please check with your insurance company prior to your visit to ensure WCHC participates with your insurance carrier. Due to many types of insurance coverage, it is important your insurance coverage is verified. We’ll make a copy of your current insurance card and information at the time of registration is necessary to make sure claims are billed promptly and accurately.
After your visit to WCHC, we’ll submit a claim to your insurance company provided we received the information within your policies filing time frame and you have assigned payment for your benefits to the hospital.
You may receive separate bills for hospital and physician services. This is due to Medicare, Medicaid, and most insurance carriers requiring professional fees for physicians to be billed separately from hospital charges for inpatient, outpatient, clinic, laboratory, imaging, and all other medical services.
Most health insurance plans do not cover the full amount of the hospital and physician bills. You will be required to pay any deductible, co-payment, or non-covered charges. Our Patient Account representatives will assist you with payment arrangements toward any balances owed once your insurance has been filed per request. We accept VISA, MasterCard, and Discover for payment.
Financial Assistance
We’re here to help.
At Washington County Hospital and Clinics (WCHC), we believe everyone deserves access to quality healthcare, regardless of their ability to pay. No one will be denied access to services due to inability to pay. A discounted/sliding fee schedule is available based on family size and income.
WCHC offers a Financial Assistance Program for eligible uninsured and underinsured patients receiving medically necessary services.
If you qualify, this program may reduce or fully cover your hospital and clinic charges for eligible services.

Helping Patients Make Informed Decisions
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) mandated hospital price transparency that went into effect January 1, 2021, requiring hospitals to make a list of their current standard charges available on the internet in two ways: a machine-readable file and consumer-friendly shoppable services. Standard charges include gross charges, discounted cash prices, payer-specific negotiated charges, and de-identified minimum/maximum negotiated charges.
1. Machine-Readable File
This downloadable spreadsheet includes:
- Gross charges
- Discounted cash prices
- Payer-specific negotiated rates
- De-identified minimum and maximum negotiated charges
These standard charges apply to all items and services offered by WCHC and allow for data comparison across providers.
2. Consumer-Friendly Price Estimator
Our Price Estimator Tool helps you:
- Review prices for the 300 most commonly shoppable services
- Estimate your out-of-pocket costs based on your insurance plan
- Make informed decisions before scheduling care
Use the Price Estimator Tool
However, provider organizations and patient advocates both agree that the realities of medical-industry pricing make it difficult for consumers to comprehend this data. Insurance companies negotiate a specific discount for their customers and uninsured individuals have access to a variety of state and federal government programs as well as additional Hospital discounts. Please note that the prices listed in both the machine-readable file and shoppable services are only estimates and may not represent a patient’s total responsibility amount.
