When Darcy Hackert found a lump in her right breast she immediately called her doctor. A few mammograms and a biopsy later, Darcy was diagnosed with breast cancer.
“I was a little nervous but always optimistic, I always knew I would be okay.”
Armed with her positive attitude and support from her family, Darcy underwent surgery, eight chemo treatments and 33 radiation treatments. Finally, six months after finding the lump, Darcy was cancer free.
After winning her battle with breast cancer, it was imperative that Darcy continued to get mammograms multiple times a year. With the frequent number of mammograms needed, Darcy wanted to make it as easy as possible and Washington County Hospital and Clinics was number one on her list.
“My doctor is located at WCHC, it is close to home, and the imaging staff is wonderful. WCHC is my number one choice.”
Today, 15 years later, Darcy remains cancer free and stays extremely active in the breast cancer community, even going as far as to co-found a non-profit that supports breast cancer patients and caregivers. She is also, understandably, a huge advocate of annual mammograms.
“I highly recommend WCHC for your annual mammogram. The Imaging Team is rock stars, they will make the entire process easy and comfortable, they are truly amazing!”
