Kelsey graduated from Creighton with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in 2013. She began her career at the University of Iowa Emergency Department as a staff nurse and returned to Creighton for graduate school, earning her DNP in 2017. During her time at the University of Iowa, she served as a triage nurse, preceptor, charge nurse, and on various committees. Kelsey also became board-certified as an adult and pediatric emergency nurse and achieved a Level 1 status from the Professional Recognition Program. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, the Iowa Nurse Practitioner Society, and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.
Kelsey’s nursing training at Creighton University was rooted in “curas personalis,” a Jesuit value meaning “care of the whole person.” She believes in partnering with patients and providing care that adheres to a patient’s values and health goals. In providing holistic care across the lifespan, she will take the time to listen to patients and emphasize preventative care. Kelsey knows that medical terminology and medications can be confusing for patients. She makes it a priority to use plain language, and to take time to go over medications, preventative care recommendations, and specialist appointments to ensure her patient understands and is making the best use of their healthcare dollars.
Kelsey and her husband reside in Washington County and have one young son. She enjoys spending time with family, home decorating, scrapbooking, and going to country music concerts. She loves to support community activities that promote health and wellness and feels incredibly grateful to live in a community that offers wonderful care, so close to home.
