Leigh’s Story

Nicole Naraine, PT, MS, DPT and Leigh Wolf

Leigh Wolf was scared she would never run again. “I was carrying my dog, Skeeter, up the stairs when I tripped and fell down five steps,” explains Leigh, who was running eight to 10 miles every day before her fall. “I thought I had just twisted my knee. But the next morning, I couldn’t put any weight on my left leg.”

An MRI revealed that Leigh had fractured her tibia just below her left knee. After wearing a brace and staying off the leg for two months, Leigh began physical therapy at Washington County Hospital and Clinics.

“The staff was absolutely wonderful,” Leigh says. “I told Nicole Naraine, my primary physical therapist, that I had one objective: to be able to run again. Nicole was the first person to encourage me to believe I could achieve that goal.”

To help Leigh recover, Nicole used her specialized training in the Graston technique, a leading soft-tissue therapy that is used by 2/3 of NFL, NBA and MLB teams. “What Nicole achieved with me was a miracle!” Leigh says. “The Graston technique was extremely helpful and really reduced the inflammation in my leg.”

Today, Leigh is back 100 percent. “I’m running just as much as I did before my fall,” Leigh says. “I’ve been jogging for 45 years and don’t plan to stop any time soon.
