Respiratory Therapy
Our Respiratory Therapy department performs a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic services to the inpatient and outpatient population. The Respiratory Therapy department is located on the inpatient side of the hospital. Our team treats outpatients in a private treatment room and inpatients in their hospital room.
Diagnostic services include:
- Pulmonary Function testing
- Spirometry
- Diffusion Capacity
- Volumes/Nitrogen Washout
- Arterial Blood Gas Analysis
- Oximetry testing
- Lung Saturation test to determine need for home oxygen
- Overnight oximetry testing in the hospital setting
These diagnostic services can help diagnose and manage various lung conditions such as but not limited to COPD, Asthma, emphysema, bronchitis, and pneumonia in the inpatient and outpatient setting. These conditions can make breathing very difficult. Contact your family physician if you are experiencing difficulty breathing. A referral is needed for you to receive our services.
Therapeutic Services Include:
- Oxygen Therapy
- Bronchopulmonary Hygiene / Chest Percussion
- Administration of aerosol Medications
- Non-Invasive Ventilation
Our therapeutic services are administered during a hospitalization. During your hospital stay, our therapists can evaluate your breathing upon physician order to see if additional treatment, such as using a bi-pap, oxygen, respiratory medications, or airway clearance techniques, are needed.
