Before Pam came to WCHC, she was in clinical practice in northern Wisconsin for 10 years. After completing her doctorate in nursing practice, she taught nursing for three years in Milwaukee. While she enjoyed her time as an assistant professor, she missed clinical practice and felt it was the right to go back into clinical practice, where she could make a difference. She took a hospitalist position at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, where she worked with pulmonary patients, including adult cystic fibrosis and lung transplant patients. She was part of the Pulmonary & Critical Care Division at UIHC for over 5 years. Pam has been a registered nurse since 1977 and a nurse practitioner since 2001.
Pam's hobbies include knitting, gardening, and traveling, but her favorite pass time is spoiling her grandchildren & encouraging them to be a little ornery once in a while - just enough to remind their parents they were once kids, too. She is married to a "wonderful man", with whom she has four kids and four grandchildren. She values time spent working with patient's & their families, as well as spending time with family.
