Dr. Gibbs' impressive academic accomplishments range from receiving the Freeman Award for the top graduating senior from the University of Iowa in 1982, to Phi Beta Kappa, to her graduation with a BS with "highest distinction" and her subsequent MD from the University of Iowa College of Medicine. Graduating Alpha Omega from the University of Iowa, she ranked in the top 3% of her medical school class.
In addition to these accomplishments, Dr. Gibbs was also the first practicing female family practitioner in the county.
