Pulmonary rehabilitation is a program offered to improve the quality of life for people living with lung diseases such as COPD, emphysema, pulmonary fibrosis, chronic bronchitis, asthma, and lung cancer.
work with the patient to follow a structured program, including strength and endurance training, breathing re-education, and energy conservation techniques. Patient vitals are monitored closely throughout the exercise program to guarantee patient safety.
At the end of the program, patients are encouraged to perform a maintenance program independently with the option of a gym membership. Patients that have completed pulmonary rehabilitation typically report decreased shortness of breath and improved activity tolerance and ability to perform activities of daily living. Patient's MUST be referred by a pulmonologist to participate in this program.
