Diabetes Education News and Updates
Here for you!
Welcome to WCHC's Diabetes Education Program! We have been a certified program by the American Diabetes Association since 2012. We exist to help you manage your diabetes and live a healthy life!
The American Diabetes Association recommends that everyone with diabetes have access to Diabetes Self-Management Education Services at 4 key times in their lives:
1. When first diagnosed with diabetes
2. Every year for a review
3. When new complicating factors occur (like other health conditions, illnesses, emotional stress, etc)
4. When changes in diabetes care occur, such as starting on insulin or another injectable medication.
Research shows that individuals who participate in diabetes education have lower A1c, better quality of life, reduced mortality risk, and improved coping.
