Cafeteria / Vending Hours

PATIENT MEAL TIMES

Patient meals are prepared fresh daily, ensuring the finest quality.  Patients are now able to choose their meals from our room service menus.  Patients may order from 6:30 am-6:30 pm.  All meals are prepared to order.  Delivery times are as follows:  

  • Breakfast-7:40 am-8:15 am
  • Lunch- 11:40 am-12:15 pm
  • Supper-5:40 pm-6:15 pm

For the patient's convenience, they may also pre-order all of their meals for the day to be delivered at specified times.  Family members may also order for their loved ones in the hospital by calling 319-863-2040.  Ask the nurse or hostess for a copy of the menu to take home. 

 On occasion, your meal may be delayed if you are scheduled for a special test or treatment. Whenever possible, you will be served after your examination or test.

GUEST MEALS

Your family members or friends may wish to dine with you at bedside.  For this reason, the daily menu is offered at a nominal cost.  Please check with your Nurse to order guest meals.   

VENDING MACHINES

Vending machines are available 24 hours a day for snacks and beverages.   The vending area is located just inside the South Entrance, on the South end of our campus.   Please follow the directional signs throughout the hospital to locate the vending area. 

 

GUEST AND VISITOR SERVICES

The cafeteria is open daily for visitors and staff dining from 11:30 a.m to 1:15 p.m.  A wide variety of choices are offered to satisfy your needs.  The cafeteria is closed in the evenings and on the weekends.   Below is a schedule of the hours and what is served at those times.

Breakfast - 6:30 am to 10:00 am 
(This is a cold breakfast such as a continental breakfast.   Hot breakfast is served on Fridays only from 8 am to 10 am.)

Lunch - 11:15 am to 1:15 pm
(This is a hot meal)

Dinner    
We apologize, but we are not open during this time.

We do not serve dinner in the cafeteria; however, cookies and snack items may be purchased on an honor system in the cafeteria from 1:15 pm to 6:30 pm.   Coffee and fountain drinks are available Monday-Sunday all day in the cafeteria.  

Hospital employees and visitors are welcome to use the cafeteria at any time during their operating hours. Patients should obtain permission from their physicians or nurse before eating in the cafeteria as some foods may be restricted due to diet or medication needs.
